Isabel Barros is Executive Board Member of Sonae MC and Non-Executive Board Member of Sonae Indústria, positions that she holds in addition to the Presidency of APED (Portuguese Association of Distribution Companies) and the Executive Committee of CIP (Confederation of Portuguese Business). She is currently President of the Sustainability Advisory Group of Sonae companies and has over 20 years of experience in the areas of Talent Management and Development, in both national and international contexts.
Since September 2021, she integrates as External Advisor, the General Council of Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal. Since November 2020, she takes part of the Councils Boards of Oporto British School.
During 2019 she was distinguished with the Leading Women Awards, in the 'Excellence' category, by WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development), honor that recognizes the women leaders with differentiated contribution regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Also in 2019, she assumed the position of Vice-President of BCSD (Business Council for Sustainable Development), a non-profit association that aggregates and represents more than 90 renowned companies in Portugal that are actively committed to the sustainability transition.
Since 2015, she has been a member of the Executive Board of Junior Achievement Portugal (JAP), the Portuguese counterpart of the world's largest and oldest non-profit organization for entrepreneurship education.
Isabel joined Sonae in 2011 with the responsibility of repositioning the brand when it comes to Talent Management, designing the main policies for the Group and ensuring the personalized development of its top managers.
Previously, her career began as a strategic consultant in the Ibersol Group (business group on the PSI-20), where she has developed projects in many sectors, and in an international environment, as part of the Korn Ferry - Hay Group.
With a degree in Psychology from Universidade do Porto and a MBA from EADA Business School Barcelona and Nagoya International School Japan, Isabel Barros is a speaker and guest lecturer at talent management and leadership forums, sharing her knowledge and experiences.
